The end of July was a painful period, because two of my friends from EDC lost their husbands. Again this month, there was another loss within that circle of friends.
On the 7th of October, 2016, one of the few men in that class slept and didn't wake up. Raymond Uhuotu was the Vice President of the class, and he was courteous, gentle, generous and friendly, to all of us, regardless of age, gender, status or religion. He was a hardworking, focused businessman, that stood firm in his beliefs and he was loved by all.
He was healthy, conscious of his health and took care of himself. Its still a shock how it happened.
The turnout at the Candlelight Procession and Funeral Service yesterday was massive. It goes to show that Raymond touched so many lives while he was with us. I'm not surprised, as he went out of his way to make us all comfortable back then when we were in class together. When he was chosen as VP of the class, the vote was unanimous, as we all knew his broad shoulders could carry the weight well. He was a friend, someone you could walk up to, to ask for clarification in class.
May his gentle soul rest in peace. He shall be sorely missed.
